Atami In Shizuoka Prefecture! 静岡県の熱海!

July 22nd~23rd, I went to a city called Atami in Shizuoka Prefecture. Atami is known for its beach, mountain range, osen (hot springs), and seafood. The water used for the hot springs all come from the mountains and in some places you can see geysers. Check out the photos to see what I did!

Map of Japan with Shizuoka Prefecture shaded in with brown. Right under Tokyo.

Atami Beach. Water was cold but was a lot of fun! :D

A picture of one part of Atami. Can you spot the temple on top of the mountain? That's where I went to see the Atami Temple. But to get up there, I need to ride the...

... Ropeway!

This is the view from on top of the mountain after we get off the ropeway. (All Blogger videos I uploaded have terrible sound quality so I'm sorry!)

The Atami Temple. It has an awesome view from the top!

Picture of me on top of a golden carp??

Me "wearing" a samurai helmet. Since I was wearing a Batman shirt, the helmet had pointy ears similar to Batman so I thought why not take a picture?

Mom dressed up in a kimono to take her picture taken :P

Going down from the mountain on the ropeway!

This statue is a scene from a famous short novel called Konjiki Yasha taking place in Atami. It's a drama/romance story about a woman, Omiya (the one that is on the ground), was engaged with the man on the right, Kanichi. But Omiya suddenly married a rich man who offered her a diamond ring. Kanichi felt betrayed and so this is the kicking scene at the beach in front of the pine tree. The pine tree next to the statue is called Omiya no Matsu (Pine Tree of Omiya).

On the last night in Atami, I ordered a dish with seafood. In this bowl is Sea Urchin, Tuna fish eggs, Sardines and dryed Sardines, and egg with peas. Delicious! :D
